Tuxera Enters TOP 25 European Start-up Companies
Qualifies for Eurecan European Venture Contest Final

HELSINKI, FINLAND: Tuxera Ltd has been selected from over 100 pre-qualified companies into TOP 25 European start-up companies. Tuxera will compete for the 90.000 euros prize at the Final of the Eurecan European Venture Contest Barcelona on 14 and 15 December 2009. Tuxera qualified for the final after winning a start-up competition earlier this month in Turin, Italy.

Tuxera CEO Mikko Välimäki comments: “We are naturally extremely happy about this award. Tuxera is a born global growth company whose headquarters are in Finland by chance. Our main markets are software, semiconductor and consumer electronic manufacturers located in Asia, United States and Europe.”

Tuxera Ltd was founded to commercialize the leading NTFS open source project. NTFS is the main file system in Microsoft Windows. Tuxera CTO Szabolcs Szakacsits has been the project leader since 2006.

Szakacsits explains: “For example every digital camera and set-top-box has a file system that writes picture and video files on a memory card or hard disk drive. Many of these devices are running nowadays Linux. If you want to read the pictures or videos directly from a Windows or Mac computer, the files must have been written with an interoperable file system such as NTFS.”

Tuxera’s major achievements in 2009 include collaboration agreements with Microsoft. Thus, Tuxera is currently the only company providing Windows-interoperable NTFS and exFAT file system drivers to device manufacturers who use Linux or other non-Windows platform.
