I have an external 2TB HDD, formated with NTFS and a PC with CentOS 5.6. When I plug the HDD on USB it is automatically mounted, and the RD/WR accesses are correct. But if I no longer access any data from the HDD, it enters idle and when I access it again I get I/O errors:
Sep 11 11:24:24 trustic ntfs-3g[19782]: Failed to sync device /dev/sdd1: Input/output error Sep 11 11:24:24 trustic ntfs-3g[19782]: Failed to write index block 0, inode 5473: Input/output error Sep 11 11:24:25 trustic ntfs-3g[19782]: Failed to sync device /dev/sdd1: Input/output error Sep 11 11:24:25 trustic ntfs-3g[19782]: Failed to write index block 0, inode 5473: Input/output error
If I unplug the HDD and replug it then everything is OK again until the HDD enters idle.
