Post NTFS-3G Mount problem Error: /dev/disk1s1
Hi, (Mac newbie here) just recently bought my first Apple computer (MacBook Pro running Mac OS X Version 19.6.7) and this error might have been addressed before, so I apologize.

I installed the Tuxera NTFS for Mac 2010.12-RC not realizing that Apple has the NTFS-3G 2010.10.2 version on their website that can be downloaded. So I uninstall Tuxera after the 15 day trial and installed NTFS-3G 10.2 but it's giving me the following error and I can't mount my external hd:

NTFS-3G could not mount /dev/disk1s1 at /Volumes/Elements because of the following problem occurred:
/Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs/Support/fusefs.kext failed to load - (libkern/kext) link error; check the system kernel logs for errors or try kextutil(8). the MacFUSE file system is not available (71)

I don't know how to check kernel logs for error but when I go to System Preferences, I see MacFUSE & NTFS-3G.

I did chkdsk the external hard drive on my windows pc and so far it didn't find any errors. But still getting the above error.

HELP me please. Thank you!

I am having exactly the same issue.. (co-incidentally also followed the FAQ adivse..)

So would love to see things move along with the ease in-which it sounds...!

I am also having the exact same issue. Hopefully someone posts something constructive, other than "buy the commercial version".

I've also got the same problem popping up on a WD My Passport drive. The Windows disk check I ran came up without errors, and the drive seems to mount just fine on my two Windows machines, and the wife's MacBook (White). It's just my MBP 13" that is having an issue accepting the drive. Glad I'm not alone on this one.

Guys, I'm having the same problem. The logs don't really help.
Any answers? I'm configuring a MAC for someone and failure is not an option!

Hi, i am another mac newbi. using it for 7 months. had my 1st macpro Aug last yr and NTFS-3G worked fine and allowed me to write to NTFS ext HD. now get exactly same error message. the only thing i did differently from last time was that i 1st accidentally installed the tuxera ntfs trial version which also had macfuse. i then uninstalled the tuxera ntfs, then installed ntfs-3g while leaving macfuse still present in the preference panel. when this error came up i then uninstalled both ntfs-3g and macfuse and reinstalled. same error msg. help???

got frustrated searching for answers and getting none- i got hold of a copy of paragon NTFS v.9 and installed it. Worked fine! maybe you guys oughta try this if NTFS-3g continues to have compatibility issues with Snow Leopard. good luck!
ps- should uninstall macfuse and ntfs-3g 1st.

You can fix this problem by installing a new version of MacFUSE from here http://www.offthehill.org/articles/2010 ... w-leopard/
