Tuxera is an open source company meaning the core products have been developed and tested in millions of installations. We lead the development and maintenance of the following open source products:
- NTFS kernel driver. This is the standard NTFS kernel driver that is integrated into Linux kernel and Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Development has been ongoing since 2000.
- NTFS-3G. This is the leading open source NTFS driver that is ported into numerous platforms. NTFS-3G is also included in hundreds of distributions; for example Fedora, Mandriva, openSUSE and Ubuntu use NTFS-3G as the default NTFS driver. Development has been ongoing since 2006.
Our open source products focus on the widest possible compatibility with general PC hardware. They come with basic features. We also sell commercial, technically improved and optimized versions of our drivers as Tuxera NTFS for Embedded Systems. The embedded offering is designed for those who strive for maximum performance with the best possible reliability in demanding environments. Additionally, the improved and optimized driver is packaged into Tuxera NTFS for Mac end-user product.
All of the Tuxera open source products are licensed with GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2. We also sell proprietary licenses to our open source products for example to companies who wish to integrate our drivers in proprietary platforms and cannot use GPL.
