Meet Tuxera team at the annual GENIVI member meet-up. As usual, the event includes also Open Automotive’15, which is open to the general public. The aim of the conference is to tackle connected car vulnerability and address cyber security issues. As the number of vehicles with in-built connectivity increases from 10% of the overall market to 90% by 2020 , data safety in the car becomes a priority. According to the latest research, 71% of the drivers are interested in connected car features and would like to see improved navigation functionalities. Most of the users expect the connectivity level at par with their connected home. In fact the latest trend includes a direct link between connected home and the car.
It’s a great opportunity to network and chat about Tuxera latest offering for the automotive market. We will also demo fail-safe file system technology showcasing reliability, high performance and endurance. As more features and technologies are integrated in the car, the automakers are setting steeper requirements for endurance and reliability for storage of critical data. Other automotive related issues include:
- Unreliable electronic environment with possible power drop-out, which can lead to a possible data loss
- Lifetime requirements in an automotive vehicle range from10 to 20 years. This is balanced against lifetime of flash memory which is limited by number of write cycles. Use of applications and frequent system on/off up to 10 times a day can wear out the physical flash memory.
Fail-safe by design, Tuxera file systems ensure that no data is lost or corrupted during storage removal or power loss, which is quite common in the automotive system. Tuxera Flash File System optimized for flash storage such as eMMC and eSD reduces flash memory wear-out and significantly extends the system lifetime.
