At the same time, new technology developments will push for further innovation, better entertainment, connectivity and personalisation. Implementation of interactive features will enable passengers to engage with social networks, access specific content or even use on-demand media streaming to watch a movie.
IVI systems are becoming more and more popular as the cars turn into cross-functional digital platforms. Tech savvy customers who want to be interconnected at all times, are currently switching to trendy, high-tech entertainment to outfit their cars. It can be easily seen in the IVI services segment, which covers telecommunication, navigation and traffic. Just this section is expected to grow 70% in the next two years. In-vehicle entertainment, which comprises everything from movies to games, is also on the rise.
At the moment mostly high-end car models come equipped with IVI applications. However, it is rapidly changing and in the near future the IVI penetration is set to reach almost 100%. It poses a huge opportunity for car manufacturers to bolster their capabilities and gain a competitive advantage.
