Since our founding in 2008, Tuxera has valued close relationships with universities and student communities. We sponsor or participate in many activities targeted at students, including TalentIT – the largest recruitment fair in Finland, sponsored by Aalto University.

At TalentIT, we get to engage with the student community, discover new talent, and share what makes Tuxera such a unique working environment and community. We’ve also been lucky to have some of these students come work with us for a study or thesis project, or full-time employment.

As in past years, we’ll be at this year’s TalentIT fair on November 3 at the Otahalli exhibition center in Espoo. This year we’re bringing some retro gaming to the scene, so stop by our booth to play a round or few with our team. We’re looking forward to meeting you!

Before you go, check out this career story from one of our employees, an Aalto University alumni Peng Liu, who started with us as a Software Engineer in 2013.

Career story – Peng Liu, Software Engineer

Tuxera – Peng Liu, Software EngineerI studied as an undergraduate in China majoring in Electronic and Information Engineering, and came to Aalto University in 2011 to pursue my Master’s Degree.

In 2013 I joined Tuxera to work on my Master’s Thesis in the field of communications engineering and networking technology. Tuxera was a right fit for my background and it allowed me to get insights into the industry. Friendly people, a flexible working environment, the quality products we build, and the possibility to play ping-pong a lot also impacted my decision.

Nowadays at Tuxera, I am one of the main engineers of an application called AllConnect, which has more than 3 million downloads from over 200 countries. The work I do at the moment is very related to my thesis entitled: “Developing a solution for multimedia home networking”. The underlying technology used in the app involves a lot of networking protocols. Sometimes I also work on embedded systems projects in Linux environment. At Tuxera I have the freedom to develop different skills and I have fully taken on this opportunity. In the past 3.5 years I have learned a lot about technology, R&D processes, and how to be a team player.

There are many talented developers and engineers in the company and I always find things to learn from them. One of the things I appreciate about working at Tuxera is the openness to feedback. Our code runs on millions of devices, so it is very critical to listen to and work together with your colleagues. Tuxera has succeeded in building a great atmosphere for this purpose – it’s a place I enjoy coming to every day.
