Why your smart meters aren’t lasting as long as they should
Leading smart meter manufacturers like Itron, Kamstrup and Growatt design their meters to last 20 years or more. But many...

Tuxera is entering a new phase of focused growth, reflecting the value our embedded products and file sharing technology bring to mission-critical industries and enterprise infrastructure. We are launching a strategic rebrand and product naming changes to emphasize this direction. This shift aligns our portfolio with customer needs and positions us to lead in resilience, speed, and security for embedded devices and enterprise environments.
We’re excited to announce that our embedded business unit is strengthening its position in mission- and safety-critical markets. This marks a new era of growth for Tuxera and follows three years of strategic investments in resilient and security -focused technologies and processes.
With a strategic rebrand and cohesive product naming, we are aligning our identity with the value we deliver to embedded markets in which data integrity and security are a must – for example, software-defined vehicles, avionics systems, smart meters, industrial controllers, medical equipment, and other devices under strict regulatory, safety, or risk management requirements.
Hardware has become a commodity. As traditional manufacturers resort to software to add value and drive differentiation, underlying technologies and systems are evolving.
“In a software-defined everything world, value is defined by code, not hardware” –says Eva Rio, Portfolio Manager at Tuxera. Software plays a more important role than ever in the next generation of software architectures, and it is mandatory that devices are secure-by-design. Tuxera file systems are proven to guarantee data integrity in millions of devices over thousands of power interruptions during their lifetime, and our networking stack includes an ample range of security protocols”. Regulatory compliance, system integrity, and functional-safety certification now depend heavily on the software stack.
Our product portfolio is consolidating, and the naming of our products simplifies.
In our embedded product catalogue, this naming update reinforces our focus on safety certification readiness and built-in resiliency and security, making it easier for engineering teams to identify and select the right product for their mission-critical, secure-by-design environments.
Reliance Nitro and Reliance Edge become NitroFS and EdgeFS, with CERT editions available.
Tuxera SafeTCPIP will follow the same name convention, and becomes Tuxera TCP/IP CERT.
Our CERT product editions are certification-ready for those projects needing to fulfill functional-safety certification standards.
We also have a change over in the enterprise-grade storage management portfolio. SMB (Server Message Block) is the globally adopted network protocol, with an estimated 2-3 billion devices actively utilizing or supporting it. In 2015, Tuxera introduced the world’s most advanced SMB file server for Linux. The award-winning software continues to enhance file sharing servers, whether on premise, in the cloud or containerized, with efficient, secure, and highly flexible SMB services.
In alignment with our embedded team, to provide consistent branding, Fusion File Share by Tuxera is now Tuxera Fusion SMB. This change serves to clarify the primary objective of the solution.
We look forward to continuing to serve you with software products and solutions designed for mission-critical, secure-by-design, and data-heavy environments.
Our customers, partners, and the industry will see our new brand and product name changes roll out starting today.
