Tuxera’s premier embedded file system software will ensure stable, fail-safe storage performance over the entire lifetime of Yura’s solution.

ESPOO, Finland, and SEONGNAM, Korea – October 28, 2019 – Tuxera, the world leading storage software and networking technology company, announced its software licensing agreement with Yura Corporation, a major automotive Tier-1 headquartered in Seongnam, Korea. According to Yura, the selection was based on Tuxera’s established reputation within the Korean automotive industry, and advanced expertise in flash storage technology. Tuxera considers lifetime, reliability, and security to be key specifications for automotive edge storage devices and continues to actively develop its flash-friendly file system, VelocityFS by Tuxera, for these requirements. Together, Yura and Tuxera offer a technologically unparalleled automotive DVR offering.

“Cars are becoming extremely data-driven. This is exactly why automotive use cases continue to be our main focus when developing VelocityFS by Tuxera. We are proud to announce one such automotive project publicly. Yura Corporation is a trusted Korean Tier-1 with a decades-long history. Working with Yura is a great honor, not just to showcase our expertise, but also to learn and to improve our products,” says Paul Choo, Korean Account Manager for Tuxera.

“Having a long history in the car industry, we always put a strong focus on the quality of products that we deliver. Developing the world-first built-in DVR System for automotive, safety, and reliability requirements are much higher when compared to third-party after-market solutions. Meeting these requirements was a core priority for our solution. We are glad to see Tuxera as one of our software partners that shares and demonstrates this value and look forward to continuing our co-operation” says Cheon-Hyo Lee, Senior Managing Director of Yura Corporation.

Optimal security through advanced testing

Tuxera’s storage software will operate and maintain the flash memory of Yura’s built-in Cam solution. This is, globally, the first automotive project where an Automotive OEM is implementing a DVR system as a part of their built-in factory options.

To ensure stable performance throughout the entire device lifecycle, Tuxera has conducted its advanced set of rigorous tests on the full storage software and hardware stack of the Yura DVR system. The company has also optimized VelocityFS for the project environment, focusing on increased flash storage lifetime, as well as providing Tuxera’s patented fail-safety technology. As embedded systems require professional maintenance in case of a fault, the conducted tests, optimizations, and safety features play key roles in ensuring stable DVR system performance. Reducing any potential risks in such systems to a minimum is a vital step in making a production-ready electronics element for automotive use cases.

From embedded to removable

As a part of the cooperation, Tuxera will also be implementing its interoperability storage software GravityCS by Tuxera into Yura Corporation’s built-in Cam system. This connectivity suite of file system implementations supports all of the most commonly used file system standards, such as Microsoft exFAT and Microsoft NTFS, allowing users to easily and reliably export their video footage from the built-in Cam to external storage devices.

Tuxera’s long-standing presence in the Korean automotive market

Tuxera’s storage software has been selected by Korean automotive Tier-1s since 2011. The company’s file system implementations are handling data in multiple use cases for both external and internal flash storages. By working closely with its partners, Tuxera actively learns about the production and future requirements of the Korean automotive market, and continuously improves its automotive storage solutions to fulfill those needs. The company sees innovation and active engagement with the industry as a vital part of its global operations.
