Helsinki, FinlandMay 20, 2014 – Tuxera Inc., the market leader in interoperable file system solutions announced today an ongoing technological cooperation with Wind River, a world leader in delivering software for intelligent connected systems. Tuxera is working with Wind River to validate and integrate its file systems with Wind River Platform for Infotainment. The cooperation includes integration into the latest version of Wind River’s GENIVI compliant software platform specifically tuned for the In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) market. The Tuxera technology enabling interoperability with brought-in media storages connected through USB and SD memory card will be included in the Wind River demonstration on K1 platform, presented during GENIVI All Member Meeting this spring.

Automotive industry is moving towards a fully connected and user-centric infotainment experience through integration of consumer electronic devices, apps and features. Tuxera file system solutions ensure plug-and-play interoperability with brought-in data storage including the latest-on-the-market high-capacity SDXC memory cards and USB storages. To answer the increasing high performance expectations, Tuxera provides full reliability and endurance to the internal flash storage. Tuxera solutions, fail-safe by design, guarantee that the user’s content is not lost during plug-off, system crash or a critical power drop. Tuxera is currently working on interoperability challenges that will play a crucial role in the future IVI developments.

“Differentiated, complex IVI systems require proven, standards compliant, powerful and reliable platforms,” said Franz Walkembach, Product Line Manager of Automotive Solutions at Wind River. “Together with Tuxera, we are delivering highly integrated, optimized and tested solutions that ensure proper data connectivity and interoperability for a seamless user experience. Tuxera is contributing to the delivery of high performance, reliability and interoperability to infotainment systems.”

GENIVI, a foundation for IVI devices, provides the suppliers with greater flexibility and opportunities for innovation, in particular in the areas of advanced in-vehicle information, entertainment and connectivity. Wind River, as a founding member of GENIVI, plays a key role in the alliance by developing, integrating, testing and contributing automotive middleware and hardware integration components.

“Automotive solutions need not only to handle the accelerating rate of change in technology and comply with steep requirements but more often than not have to provide a differentiated user experience and deliver compelling new features. Wind River has a strong history of technology and innovation, and we are excited to be working hand-in-hand with them on the new generation of the IVI platforms,” noted Viet-Anh Pitaval, Business Development Director at Tuxera. “Focusing on solving interoperability challenges, we also plan to keep on contributing to make GENIVI a fully interoperable, production ready In-Vehicle Infotainment platform that everyone can deploy. We are happy to contribute to the Wind River demo at the GENIVI All Member Meeting, with added interoperability, reliability and performance functionalities.”
