Tuxera joins JEDEC, the global leader in microelectronics standardization, to deliver better file systems for eMMC, SSDs and UFS flash memories.
Helsinki, Finland – April 9, 2014 – Tuxera Inc., the leader in interoperable file system solutions announced today it has joined JEDEC, the global leader in microelectronics standardization. JEDEC is an industry-wide association working on existing and next-generation flash memory standards including eMMC, SSD and UFS. Tuxera develops fail-safe file system solutions for both internal and external storages fully optimized for the different flash technologies. At the end of 2013 JEDEC released eMMC 5.0 which brings enhancements for embedded mass-storage flash memory making sure the hardware is capable of transfer rates up to 400MB per second. The eMMC standard has become a de-facto flash storage used in smartphones, tablets, TVs, automotive infotainment systems and other popular use cases.
Tuxera FAT and exFAT optimized together with flash memory, chipset and device manufacturers meet hardware performance limits without sacrificing fail-safe reliability and full interoperability. The software powers eMMC storages in the most popular mobile phones and automotive deployments. Fail-safe by design, Tuxera solutions guarantee that no data will be lost in an unexpected power drop, battery removal or a system crash. On-the-fly check and repair makes sure that the system heals itself transparently while running.
“We are excited to contribute to JEDEC’s efforts towards improving flash performance and quality while making sure the data is always accessible. Tuxera optimized file system solutions are being deployed in the most common flash standards. Significant performance and reliability improvements mean that manufacturers can achieve higher level device responsiveness and usability with cost-effective software and hardware solutions,” commented Szabolcs Szakacsits, Tuxera President and CTO. “As a JEDEC member we are working together with the flash memory developers and users across the industry and look forward to contribute to the ongoing standards development.”
