Metrological Selects Tuxera NTFS for Mediaconnect TV
High-Speed Performance Enables Leading Open Media Platform Device to Exceed Customer Expectations
AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS (IBC) and HELSINKI, FINLAND–(Marketwire – Sept. 8, 2010) – Tuxera, the leading provider of Windows-compatible file systems for Linux, Android, Mac and other platforms, today announced that Metrological Media Innovations has licensed Tuxera NTFS to bring seamless interoperability to Mediaconnect TV. Tuxera’s embedded file system solution will stream or playback digital media content in Mediaconnect TV, a next-generation, generic open media platform, based on the Intel® CE Media Processing technology and powered by Metrological’s Metroconnect Operating System.
“Tuxera’s interoperable file systems play an important role in media and device convergence. They provide Mediaconnect TV with unmatched NTFS file system read/write performance,” said Metrological CTO Albert Dahan. “Metrological’s Operating System and software for set-top box devices enables media service operators to extend over-the-top home media entertainment services to their current subscription base. Whilst watching conventional television, television viewers are able to simultaneously access an extensive range of additional next-generation, web-based multimedia applications.”
“Metrological is currently paving the way towards the future of set-top-box and TV-embedded software by allowing their users to view, store and share music, pictures, and video among multiple devices, instead of considering them as device-specific content,” stated Tuxera CEO Mikko Välimäki. “We are pleased that our file system interoperability is helping Mediaconnect TV meet consumers’ new-found desire to mix and match media across their home entertainment systems, portable storage devices, and PCs.”
