Tuxera’s mission-critical storage software has operated in deep space for years, and esa-star accreditation now brings that proven flight heritage into Europe’s official procurement ecosystem.
Espoo, Finland, June 2026. The European Space Agency officially accepted Tuxera, a provider of embedded storage software for mission-critical and physical AI environments, into its System for Tendering and Registration (esa-star). The accreditation formally opens Tuxera’s access to ESA’s procurement network, a milestone that reflects years of flight-proven deployment across some of the world’s most demanding space missions.
Tuxera’s FlashFX Tera™ flash memory management software is already operating in deep space. NASA’s Ames Research Center selected the software for the BioSentinel mission, a deep-space CubeSat studying the effects of radiation on living organisms beyond Earth’s magnetic field. Tuxera’s file systems have also been deployed aboard the International Space Station. In each case, the requirement is the same: data that cannot be lost, under conditions that ground simulations cannot replicate.
For European space programs seeking a storage software partner with genuine flight heritage, Tuxera has been part of the ecosystem for over a decade. The company’s technology flew aboard Astrobotic’s Peregrine Mission One, part of NASA’s Artemis Commercial Lunar Payload Services program, in a collaboration with Hungarian space startup Puli Space Technologies. That work reflects Tuxera’s sustained commitment to the European space community and its readiness to work with the teams and prime contractors building tomorrow’s missions.
For space programs and prime contractors seeking a proven embedded storage partner, Tuxera is now part of Europe’s official space supply chain. The esa-star registration means Tuxera can be directly engaged on tenders spanning Earth observation, satellite navigation, human spaceflight, and deep-space exploration, bringing flight-proven data reliability to the next generation of European missions.
“Joining esa-star is not the starting point for Tuxera in space. It is the formalization of a position we have been building for years. Our software has flown with NASA, supported European teams on lunar missions, and operated in the harshest data environments imaginable. The esa-star partnership gives us the platform to bring that heritage directly into European space programs and to work with the partners who are shaping the future of European space infrastructure.” – Katja Hakoneva, Product Manager, Tuxera
Tuxera is now actively monitoring ESA’s open tenders and engaging with European partners on upcoming mission opportunities. Space programs, prime contractors, and system integrators preparing ESA bids or European mission proposals can contact Tuxera’s space team directly.
Tuxera is defining the physical AI data layer: the software that ensures data integrity and performance in systems where AI operates in the physical world. From embedded storage and networking at the edge to enterprise-grade file sharing at the data center, Tuxera’s software runs in over 500 million devices across multiple mission-critical industries. Headquartered in Finland with nearly 20 years of engineering heritage.
esa-star is the European Space Agency’s official online System for Tendering And Registration, the mandatory gateway for any entity wishing to take part in ESA procurement. Registered vendors gain access to open invitations to tender, eligibility to submit proposals, and visibility within ESA’s supplier ecosystem. Learn more at www.esa.int.
