Tuxera, the Finnish technology company building the Physical AI data layer, has appointed experienced business developer and growth entrepreneur Tommi Huovinen as VP EMEA Sales. Huovinen will lead sales across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, supporting the company’s growth toward its target of EUR 100 million in revenue this decade.
The appointment continues Tuxera’s ambitious recruitment strategy. The company’s growth plan centers on the fast-growing Physical AI segment, where Tuxera is building a Physical AI data layer from device to cloud. Its goals are bold: EUR 100 million in revenue this decade, expansion in global markets, and market leadership in Physical AI, the field combining artificial intelligence and robotics.
Tommi Huovinen joined Tuxera in June 2026, bringing long experience in growth companies and deep expertise from mission-critical industries including automotive, health technology, and industrial sectors. He has held business development roles at companies such as Qt Group, Wunderdog, and iZettle, and has founded two technology growth companies.
“Technological shifts, and seizing the opportunities they bring, have been the common thread throughout my career. Tuxera has already reached the scale of hundreds of millions of devices, with steady growth and profitability, yet we are on the verge of something new. It’s a compelling moment to come on board and help build the company into the next international success story,” Huovinen says.
In Huovinen’s view, reaching Tuxera’s goals will above all require the ability to communicate clearly about complex technologies and to strengthen Tuxera’s role as a strategic partner to its customers. The aim is to be part of customer decisions early, at the architecture stage.
“We give our customers a data layer for putting Physical AI to work. In practice, that means fully autonomous factory robots and vehicles, for example. Rather than supplying individual components, we are a strategic, business-critical partner,” Huovinen says.
Tuxera’s VP, Global Sales & Strategy Aleksina Shemeikka sees determined, successful recruitment as central to reaching the company’s goals and becoming the global market leader in its field.
“Recruiting experienced and visionary people is critically important for us. Tommi joining the team is a significant step forward, as he combines growth-company experience with deep understanding of industries that matter to us. With his help, we are taking our EMEA sales toward strategic partnerships and strengthening our position in the fast-growing physical AI market,” Shemeikka comments.
Tuxera’s technology runs at the core of over 500 million devices worldwide: in consumer devices, vehicles, industry, data centers and cloud services, emergency services, medical research, and on international space stations.
Data plays a central role in a growing number of industries, and Tuxera helps its customers ensure safety even in critical environments. Its customers include IBM, LG, Suunto, NASA, Rockwell, and Siemens.
In spring 2025, Tuxera appointed experienced growth and change leader Steffan Schumacher as its new CEO. He had previously held leadership roles at global players including Microsoft, Qt Group, Citrix, and Efecte.
In late 2025, Tuxera appointed three new members to its leadership team: VP, Global Sales & Strategy Aleksina Shemeikka, VP, Marketing Merja Sinkkonen, and VP, People and Culture Karoliina Reuna.
