The software company joins the open-source automotive software association AGL, continues to expand its presence as the key storage technology expert

Helsinki, Finland – February 8, 2017 – Tuxera, the world-leading storage and networking technology company, today announced its membership in the Automotive Grade Linux association. The company is confident that this collaboration will increase its growing presence within the automotive industry and allow Tuxera to stay ahead of the curve when responding to the needs of car manufacturers.

“Cars are quickly becoming powerhouse producers of big data, and it’s important to have high-quality, reliable software to store, process, and turn that data into valuable information. Collaborating with Automotive Grade Linux will enable us to ensure that car makers can reliably store critical consumer and vehicle data,” says Szabolcs Szakacsits, President & CTO of Tuxera.

As a member of the association, the company will work closely with other AGL members to ensure that car manufacturers from all regions are aware of the most reliable, safe, and efficient file system solutions currently available to the market.

Making data work

Tuxera envisions that the future of automobiles will be data-driven and interconnected. Long term, these developments will revolutionize the car industry by bringing fully autonomous vehicles to the market. But more importantly, data analysis of traffic accidents and extreme road situations will give manufacturers and legislators a clear understanding of how to make car travel truly safe.

Tuxera believes that state-of-the-art flash file systems will be one of the major technologies required to bring smart cars to the mass market. For this reason, the company is heavily investing in memory technology R&D at its recently opened research facility in Tampere, Finland.
